How a week works
- Sunday evening
Fill the week in one sitting
Pick a day, pick a slot, type what you are making. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are always there; morning and afternoon snack rows switch on and off in settings, so the grid only shows the meals you actually plan.
- Wednesday, plans change
Move a meal without retyping it
Drag Thursday's dinner onto Friday. Duplicate a meal to another day, or copy it across several days at once when you are cooking one thing twice.
- Next week
Reuse the meals that worked
Save any meal to your library with one click, then drop it into next week from the picker. A saved meal keeps its title, your notes, and the link to the recipe you used.
What it deliberately leaves out
A planner that also wants to be a recipe box, a shopping list, and a nutrition tracker ends up being none of them well. This one plans the week and stops there.
- No ingredient lists or cooking steps — link out to the recipe you already use.
- No grocery lists.
- No calorie or macro tracking.
- No pantry inventory.
- No recipe imports, and no menus written by a machine.
Start now, sign in later
Nothing is gated behind a sign-up form. An account exists for one reason: to put the same plan on every screen in the house.
Without an account
- Start planning straight away — nothing to fill in first.
- Your week is saved in this browser.
- It stays on this device, so your phone sees a different plan.
With a free account
- One plan, shared by everyone signed in to the account.
- A library of saved meals to plan from.
- Snack rows and delete confirmation become yours to set.
Questions people ask
Is Simple Menu Planner free?
Yes. Planning a week, creating an account, and saving meals to reuse are all free.
Do I need an account to plan meals?
No. You can start planning immediately and your week is stored in the browser you are using. Create an account when you want the same plan on your phone and your laptop — the plan you already made moves into the account when you sign up.
Can two people plan the same week together?
Yes. One account is one shared meal plan, so everyone in the household signs in to the same account and sees the same week. There is no per-person attribution — it is simply one plan.
Does it make grocery lists or track ingredients?
No. Simple Menu Planner records what you are eating and when. A meal holds a title, optional notes, and an optional link to a recipe. There are no ingredient lists, no shopping lists, and no nutrition tracking.
Can I plan snacks as well as meals?
Yes. Every day has breakfast, lunch, and dinner, plus optional morning and afternoon snack rows you can turn on or off in settings.
Can I reuse meals from one week to the next?
Yes. Save a meal to your library and add it to any day later, or duplicate a meal you have already planned across several days at once.
Can an AI agent plan meals for me?
Yes, with a free account. Registered users can create an agent access token in Settings and connect an MCP-compatible AI agent, which can then read and plan meals on their behalf — the same actions you can take in the app yourself, nothing more.
Where is my meal plan stored?
With an account, your plan lives in the app's database and is tied to that account. Without an account, it stays in your browser's local storage on that one device.
Which day does the week start on?
Monday. Each week runs Monday through Sunday, and you can page back and forward a week at a time.
How do I get in touch?
Email contact@simplemenuplanner.app and a person will get back to you.
